Laya Gasa Trek

Laya Gasa Trek is considered one of the most scenic long distance treks in Bhutan. Laya Gasa Trek runs along the border with Tibet, the trek offers amazing views of some of the most pristine and unspoiled landscapes in Bhutan.

Laya Gasa trek begins at Drukgyel in Paro and takes you through gorgeous alpine meadows and high mountain passes with awe-inspiring views of Mount Jomolhari, Jichu Drake and Tsherimgang. You will trek through remote semi-nomadic village of Laya with unique culture, traditions and appearance.

You will also see indigenous animals such as blue sheep and Takins (the national animal of Bhutan) along the trail. From Laya, we descend to Gasa, where you will have a day of relaxation at the hot spring to rejuvenate yourself. The next day, you will further descend through dense subtropical forest to Damji and Tashithang where your trek ends.

DETAIL ITINERERY

Day 1: Arrival Paro

As our flight nears Bhutan, we can enjoy amazing views of the Himalayas including the sacred Jumolhari and Jichu Drake peaks. At the airport, we will be greeted by a representative from Adventure Trekking Club who will take us to our hotel.

Today, we will visit Rinpung Dzong which was built in 1646 and now houses the district Monastic Body and government administrative offices of Paro Dzongkhag. We will also visit Kichu Lhakhang, the oldest temple in the country and Ta Dzong, once a fortified lookout tower but has now been changed into the National Museum. The museum has a wide assortment of ancient paintings, armors, philatelic displays and a “field of Buddhas”, which helps one visualize while meditating. Overnight in Paro.
